And so it begins. I have always wanted to try this. I must say I was inspired by a sister and then a friend to get started. I am sure it will be a disaster at first. Is there a spell check on this thing? Oh yes, I see it. GOOD! I hope I will post something interesting or maybe funny from time to time. I am not too sappy or romantic so if your looking for that, keep looking. You may hear alot about my kids. They are funny sometimes. Or maybe something dumb I did, like my washer and dryer moment last week. (I will fill you in a sec.). For now, I am getting the hang of this and hoping I don't make a fool of myself.
So now for my washer and dryer story (perhaps you will relate to my stupidity or just shake your head). We just bought a house in July which came with the lovely GE gas washer dryer set in the photo. Since we already had a nice electric Maytag set I decided to Craigs list the GE set and make a few bucks on it. I was getting tired of my Maytag set taking up half the garage and wanted to move on with it already! So finally last Saturday a lady came and bought the GE set (she brought her worthless 16 year old son with her, but for some reason he just sat on the tailgate of the truck while his mother and I hoisted them up and in). After she left, impatient as I am (Dan was at work mixing drinks for PEPSI) I drug the Maytag set in, gouging the linoleum in the process (hey, maybe I will get my tile sooner) and proceeded to hook them up. Here is where I realized my mistake, as I am sure some of you have already caught on to. Of course any washer will work anywhere pretty much, but you cannot put a electric dryer where a gas dryer used to be. Not unless you pay someone to come fix a few things first. So, it was too late to get the GE set back (not that I really wanted that small noisy set), and I REALLY needed to do laundry. So I hopped back on Craigs list and found my EXACT Maytag dryer but with GAS hookups only a mile away! So I dashed over to check it out, liked it, bought it, loaded it into my minivan (on it's side) and brought it home. Again I was impatient and unloaded it alone bruising my legs pretty badly in the process. Problem solved and all before Dan came home to shake his head at me. It took a bit of elbow grease to get all the hoses on right but finally I did and I fired up a load. When it came time to dry it...the dryer was already full...of 'their' whites which included the wife's lacy thong underwear. YIKES! So I put it all in a bag and left it on their doorstep. And now I can use my nice extra capacity wonderful Maytag set. End of story. Except for the extra Maytag dryer still sitting in the garage. Anyone need a nice dryer?

brilliant! I love it! Blogging is fun. It can get addicting though. If you get on my blog you'll find a link for Amber I-L. That is Amber Isaacson. She was two years younger than me at C'dA. Her brother Russell was in my class. Anyway, from there you'll find all sorts of Gattens and Lee's. Just follow the links and stalk away!!
ReplyDeletehelloooo lookie who i found on the bloggernet! it's windy! i'm not so into blurking (blog lurking, i realize you're new to all the lingo right) so i will say hellooo and stop by every so often if that's okay!
ReplyDeleteand i love this story, mostly because it's hilarious, but also because it involves other peoples dirty {clean} laundry.
and it reminds me of my all time favorite story involving washers:
meredith did not use soap the whole first year she did her laundry. nope. she just didn't know.
love it!
thats really funny windy... I'm impressed you were able to do all that... no offense to your sex and all - but there seem to be few that would take care of all that... way to go!
ReplyDeleteThis post just cracked me up! I am so sorry about the washer/dryer fiasco and I'm glad it all worked out in the end. Ewww to find someone else's laundry! hahaha
